Permasalahan pengelolaan sampah rumah tangga masih menjadi tantangan di berbagai wilayah, termasuk RW 1 Desa Rancamulya, Kecamatan Pameumpeuk, Kabupaten Bandung. Rendahnya kebiasaan pemilahan sampah serta terbatasnya pemahaman masyarakat mengenai pengelolaan limbah yang ramah lingkungan menyebabkan meningkatnya timbulan sampah dan berpotensi menurunkan kualitas lingkungan. Kondisi ini menunjukkan bahwa penanganan sampah memerlukan keterlibatan aktif masyarakat melalui perubahan perilaku yang berkelanjutan. Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) ini dilaksanakan sebagai bentuk upaya pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui pendekatan edukatif dan penerapan teknologi sederhana yang mudah diadopsi. Kegiatan ini juga diperkuat melalui kolaborasi dengan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, sehingga memberikan perspektif yang lebih luas dalam pengembangan solusi berbasis lingkungan. Pendekatan yang digunakan menekankan pada peningkatan pemahaman serta praktik langsung yang relevan dengan kebutuhan masyarakat. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pentingnya pengelolaan sampah secara mandiri, khususnya dalam pemilahan dan pemanfaatan sampah organik. Penerapan biopori komposter menjadi alternatif yang dapat diterima dengan baik, karena mampu mengurangi volume sampah sekaligus menghasilkan kompos yang bermanfaat. Selain itu, keberadaan biopori turut membantu meningkatkan daya resap tanah dan mendukung kualitas lingkungan sekitar. Secara keseluruhan, program ini menunjukkan bahwa pemberdayaan masyarakat yang didukung kolaborasi akademik lintas negara mampu mendorong perubahan yang lebih adaptif dan berkelanjutan, serta berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai model dalam mendukung pembangunan berkelanjutan.
